Elkhart is a city located in the Southwest Corner of Kansas in Morton County. The land of Elkhart and the surrounding Morton County is a land of contrast and historical diversification. Explore the scenery of the Cimarron National Grassland, where roughly thirty-three miles of the Historic Santa Fe Trail across 108,000 acres of high-elevation prairie. Today, one can still see ruts and the site where freight wagons camped at Middle Springs and used the Point of Rocks as a lookout point from 1821 to 1880.
Take a stroll through the Morton County Historical Society Museum which depicts the early days of Morton County when people lived in dugouts and attended one-room schoolhouses. Walk through our downtown area and catch a movie at the historic Doric Theater. We also have numerous amenities around including local retail shops, restaurants, motels, inns, bed and breakfast stays, and RV parks!
