Traveling along U.S. Highway 83 in Kansas is a fantastic way to explore the state's two Western Regions. The route in the Southwest region of Kansas starts in Liberal and consists of the communities of Sublette, Garden City, and Scott City. Drive into the Northwest, and you can visit Oakley and Oberlin.
Perhaps the prime spot, though, is actually right in between Scott City in Southwest Kansas and Oakley in Northwest Kansas, where the route becomes part of the Western Vistas Historic Byway.
