Farm-fresh ingredients find their way onto menus across the countryside and cityscapes of The Sunflower State. Here are three handpicked favorites from each of the state’s six regions.

Burning Barrel

Location: Lecompton

Get fired up for farm-to-table dining starring fruits and vegetables raised on the premises. Changing weekly, the multicourse menu might include farm-raised pork roasted over an open fire and served on a communal table fashioned from a downed elm tree.
 

Saltwell Farm Kitchen

Location: Overbrook

At this 1856 farmstead, fine dining is an event with six courses served over three hours. Often foraged just hours before dinner begins, the farm’s produce pairs with other local ingredients for favorites like the seared filet of beef with heirloom purple mashed potatoes.
 

Juniper Hill Farm and Table

Location: Lawrence

Variety is the spice of life when dining inside this historic barn surrounded by fields of produce and an open lawn used for both casual and elegant culinary events. Visit during weekly Pizza Nights (featuring wood-fired pies) and the more upscale Chef Dinners that occur seasonally.

The Farm and The Odd Fellows
