Things to do in Bird City, Kansas

Founded in 1865 after cattleman Benjamin Bird, the small community of Bird City is still predominated by cattle grazing and other practices of agriculture. While the town is prime country for cattle grazing, the surrounding area is incredibly pristine and runs along the Land & Sky Scenic Byway. Not far from Bird City, within Cheyenne County, are the famous Arikaree Breaks, which is an area so breathtaking many visitors cannot believe that they are "still in Kansas."

Bird City’s biggest claim to fame may just be the legendary hand-cut steaks at Big Ed’s. The secret seasoning will leave your mouth watering for more. Antique gearheads will also love the Tri-State Antique and Thresher Show that happens every last Thursday in July. Attendees from all over brave the July heat to take a look, at these vintage machines.”
