March is a month full of activities in Kansas. The weather can still be chilly, but as the days go by, the outside temperatures will gradually rise into the mid-50s, 60s, and even 70s! Enjoy art and music? This month is jam-packed with many new art exhibits and live concerts. Will you be visiting during St. Patrick's Day? You're in luck -- St. Paddy's Day is well-celebrated in many cities across Kansas.

March is also a great time for sports fans since the numerous college and professional sports leagues will have overlapping schedules. Those who love college basketball can grab tickets for the NCAA tournament 1st and 2nd round games in Wichita, as well as games for the Division 1 NJCAA  basketball tournament located in Hutchinson. Soccer fans can get excited for the start of the MLS season, where Sporting KC will have 3 home games in March of 2025. More of a baseball fan? College baseball is also happening during this time, and Wichita State, K-State, and KU will all be having plenty of home games to grab tickets for.

Whether you are on spring break or simply looking for a weekend getaway, March is a great time to be in Kansas!

Fishing Time!

March is the time when dedicated anglers awake from their winter slumber and begin scouting the various lakes in Kansas for the best catch, they can find! The combination of mild temperatures, wind, and light rain creates fishing conditions that are perfect for anyone hitting the lake that day. Don’t forget to check out the Kansas Wildlife and Parks fishing reports to see when and where the fish are biting in Kansas!

Fishing

Cast your line at one of the state's 24 major reservoirs, 40 regularly stocked state fishing lakes, or more than 200 community and county lakes.

Biking & Cycling

One of the lesser-known perks about Kansas is just how great the landscape is for cyclists. Those who enjoy long, rolling hills to test their gear on will absolutely love regions like the Flint Hills and the landscape of Southeast Kansas. In fact, one of the biggest cycling events in the Midwest, known as Unbound Gravel occurs annually in Emporia. This massive event happens in late May and early June, attracting thousands of highly-trained cyclists from around the world. Some would even say that it's the longest and toughest race you can do on an all-gravel course.

Kansas hosts two minor league teams: The Wichita Wind Surge and The Kansas City Monarchs. The Wind Surge begin their season in very early April, and the KC Monarchs start their season in May.
