Get ready for Spring in Kansas by attending one of the state's many seasonal festivals! Witness each community's parks and downtown areas transform into cultural hubs for art, food, and music. Check out live music performances, attend one of the state's tulip festivals, or enjoy strolling through one of the local art markets!
March
Back to Top of ListThe month when spring finally arrives! Get ready for temperatures to March on to the comfortable 60s and 70s! Cool breezes begin to replace the freezing, gusty winds that accompany the winter season. Beautiful flora begins to come back to life at many local gardens and arboretums, and birds begin to sing all over the state's forested areas.
This March, get ready to experience perhaps one of the quirkiest events in Kansas: Vaffeldaggen. This event, held annually in Lindsborg, is a Swedish word that literally translates to "Waffle Day." Now, of course, you might be wondering to yourself: what, on earth, exactly, is this? The truth is, nobody knows. This event is supposed to be silly -- so be silly and have fun!
April
Back to Top of ListMoving into April, the weather is some of the nicest you can experience all year while in Kansas. Of course, while mother nature can certainly spoil a day with rain and/or thunderstorms, you'll be pleased to see that most outside temperatures are quite comfortable during this time.
April is also the time for Tulips! Numerous community gardens will be hosting events centered around this beautiful flora! In addition to spotting tulips, you can also find many live music performances, as well as the Spring Great Plains Renaissance, which will go into its 20th year from April 12-13. More of a visual arts person? Head on out to Pittsburg for the Spring Art Walk Festival!
