Welcome to our newest art museum, located in Manhattan. The Museum of Art + Light opened recently in November 2024 and has been awing visitors ever since. This museum utilizes new concepts and technology to bring modernity into the lens of an art museum, effectively helping the art "come alive" as you walk through the galleries. In other words, the museum uses artificial light and projectors that greatly enhance the visual experience - something you have to see for yourself!

This museum has so much to see! The art portion of the museum is home to the World-Class Kuska Collection, which includes approximately 28,000 items. The Kuska Collection contains dolls, toys, glassware, ceramics, silver, coins, antique home goods, and much more! Of course, this place also doubles up as a history museum, so you can enjoy much more than just the art for a single admission ticket.

For starters, who knew Kansas had a place named after the last emperor of the Aztecs? Furthermore, who knew this place also had an art museum with such a cool building? Well, now you know! The Stauth Memorial Museum is perhaps one of the premier art museums you can visit while in Kansas. 

The permanent exhibit is called "Around the World" and features the findings from Claude and Donalda Stauth as they traveled to over 95 countries on 6 continents (source). The museum also does a fantastic job of giving visitors a taste of Western Kansas with the Fry Wildlife Collection and the Wall Western Collection.

The Garden of Eden is one of the most amusing art museums you can visit. This is where you can immerse yourself in the works of a former male nurse in the Civil War and schoolteacher, Samuel Perry Dinsmoor, who took it upon himself to move to Kansas during his later years to work on "Grassroots Art," a genre known for self-taught talent, especially for those in their old age. The Garden of Eden is known throughout the world as one of the most unique works of grassroots art on the planet.

Located on the campus of Johnson County Community College, the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art is one of the newest and most impressive art museums you can visit at a Junior College. Having first opened in 2007, it hasn't taken long for the museum to gain national attention and attract more than 100,000 visitors each year (source). In addition to being known for its permanent and temporary exhibits, the museum is also well known for its beautiful exterior architecture.

This is an open-to-the-public art gallery located on the lower level of the Bowlus Fine Arts Center. The gallery is open from 9 AM - 4 PM on weekdays and also for 1 hour before any events taking place that day! This is easily one of the best arts & entertainment venues in the Southeast region of Kansas.

If you ever find yourself in Southwest Kansas, you'll also want to make sure to stop by Scott City, a city that is home to one of the most beloved art museums in the region: The Jerry Thomas Gallery + Collection. This gallery is connected to the same building as the El Quartelejo Museum. The Jerry Thomas gallery features wildlife, landscapes, and the history of the Old West, while the El Quartelejo Museum primarily focuses on the history of Scott City itself. Both of these attractions are a must-visit if you are in the area!
