Washington, the county seat, is located on US Hwy 36. The Courthouse features an art deco interior and is open for visitors. The population is 1095. The Courthouse Square features specialty shops including Washington County Clay Pottery items. The Washington County Historical Museum & Genealogical Library gives the visitor an intriguing look into yesteryear, as well as the genealogist looking for family roots.
Kansas Territory Brewing is located on C Street in downtown Washington. KTB crafts artistically brewed ales along with classic American lagers, and was voted Best New Brewer in Kansas in 2017. Cedar Hills Golf Course is 3 miles south of Washington on Hwy 15. Herrs Memory Lane and KSDS provide tours by appointment. The City Park provides free overnight camping with hookups.
Washington County Fishing Lake is located 12 miles northwest of Washington, having a 65 acre lake and 352 acres of public hunting land. Dining options include Gambino’s and Game Time. www.washingtonks.net
