Sports enthusiasts can find Kansas’ newest and largest SCHEELS location in Wichita – the Heart of the Country. After Kansas’ first SCHEELS opened in 2015 in Overland Park, the sporting goods giant opened its second Kansas store in Wichita’s Towne East Square, a great place to shop during the holiday season or any time of year.

This massive store has clothing, fishing, hunting, and camping supplies, fitness gear, and sports equipment. You’ll find merchandise for the whole family, from trendy clothes to pro and NCAA fan shops. But that’s not all this sporting goods wonderland has to offer! The 240,000-square-foot Wichita location also features a candy shop, a kids' play place, a beef jerky bar, an arcade and giant 16,000-gallon aquarium.

What to Expect

When you are looking for food options but don’t want to fight the crowd, stop in at Ginna’s Café & Coffee Shop. With a variety of coffee and sandwich choices, it is the perfect spot for lunch and relaxation.

If you’re looking to unleash your competitive side, head to the second level of the store to experience a world of games. SCHEELS Arcade has racing and interactive games such as rollerball and a 10-pin string miniature bowling alley. A family favorite, hit all the targets in the shooting simulator before the clock runs out. Additionally, shoppers will also find a large selection of pickleball equipment and can get fitted for golf clubs.

Walk through a journey of the Wildlife Mountain. Featuring various animals and vegetation, check out life-sized lions, tigers, and bears. While you are admiring, pull up fun facts from your smartphone about any animal.

Unique to Wichita, the store reflects the Wichita area and Kansas, complete with a 7-foot WuShock made out of Legos, sports gear dedicated to the Chiefs, Royals, and Kansas colleges, and an airplane – to reflect Wichita’s status as the Air Capital of the World – that people can sit in.
