Kansas is beautiful! With over 350 murals (and counting), nearly every town in Kansas has taken the initiative to showcase and express the creative works of the community. Everywhere you go, you'll be able to find countless murals on display, painted by world-class artists from all walks of life. Some communities have even managed to create such a high density of murals that they've become their own separate art tours in and of themselves. Murals of Coffeyville

Back to Top of List

Location: Coffeyville

Region: Southeast

Coffeyville has two mural collections across the town for you to tour. The Don Sprague Murals, of which you can find 14 in total, are also quite historic, in that they were all painted between 1988 and 1992, long before the big mural boom. Not only was Don essentially ahead of his time, but he also went out of his way to research the heritage of Coffeyville so that each depiction was historically accurate.

The other big collection in town is called the "Death Alley Murals," and while the name can seem a bit intimidating, these works of art are part of a larger historical tour where you can walk the same path as the infamous "Dalton Gang" that attempted to rob two banks in the town at the same time!

Murals of El Dorado

Back to Top of List

Region: South Central

El Dorado is mostly known for the Kansas Oil Museum and the largest state park in Kansas, El Dorado State Park. Though in recent years, El Dorado has taken strides to greatly enhance the local art scene. The Greetings from El Dorado Mural has a brilliant design, featuring a different aspect of the city in each letter, including designs for the Oil Museum and the State Park. The Mural Plaza, located at 110 W. First Ave., brings together two murals and a sculpture, all put together with the help of local artists from Brickmob and some of the staff from the City of El Dorado! The artists at Brickmob aren't even close to being done in El Dorado, either! In late May 2025, Joe Worley from Brickmob completed the newest mural in El Dorado at the McDonald Baseball Stadium.
