If holiday lights are your love language, Wichita speaks it fluently. Illuminations at Botanica Wichita (Nov. 22–Jan 3, 2026) transforms 30+ themed gardens into a glittering wonderland of more than 2 million lights — a Kansas holiday tradition that belongs on every traveler’s list.

Add in Wild Lights 2025 at Sedgwick County Zoo (through Dec. 21), where larger-than-life lanterns light up the night, and you’ve got double the dazzle. Experience the holidays like it’s 1880 at Old Cowtown Museum’s Victorian Christmas (Dec. 5–6 & 12–13). Lamplight, carolers, and horse-drawn wagons create a warm glow against the winter chill.

Continue your trip through time with the Victorian Cottage Christmas at the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum (Nov. 20–Jan 9, 2026). And for a family favorite, Watson’s Christmas Express at O.J. Watson Park (select days, Nov. 20–Dec 21) offers twinkling train rides, Santa sightings, and endless smiles.

3. The Stage Is Set for Holiday Fun

When night falls, Wichita’s entertainment scene shines. Catch the laugh-out-loud holiday parody “Dwight Christmas” at Roxy’s Downtown or the hilariously festive “Holidaze of Our Lives” at Mosley Street Melodrama.

Experience the magic of the season at one of two annual productions of “The Nutcracker.” Metropolitan Ballet performs its annual production on Dec. 6 & 7. Featuring live music by the Ballet Wichita Symphony, Ballet Wichita will present its 51^st annual production of “The Nutcracker” on Dec. 20 & 21.

Feeling inspired by the masters? Get lost in the color and motion of Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience, where you’ll step inside the artist’s swirling world.

And if you prefer your holidays set to a symphonic soundtrack, the Wichita Symphony Orchestra’s 2025-26 performances, such as their “Spirit of the Season” concert (Dec. 9), bring timeless classics and modern cheer to Century II.
