UNBOUND Gravel began as a dream of two individuals whose vision was to give back to the cycling community by creating a gravel event on some of the best gravel in the world. The event has grown from a group of 34 participants in 2006 to becoming the worlds premiere gravel race.
Nearly 3,000 riders now descend on Emporia the Saturday after Memorial weekend to take on the grueling challenge of riding 200 miles through the beautiful, serene Flint Hills of Kansas. The 200-mile distance is the signature race of UNBOUND Gravel. Additional races include a 100-mile, 50-mile, and a high school race as well as a 25-mile fun ride. If you're really tough, you can opt for the 350-mile, ultra-endurance XL.
And if you think Kansas is flat, you'll definitely know better after this race! The Emporia community has embraced the UNBOUND Gravel event with many locals participating in various events and even more flocking to the finish line party downtown to cheer on the riders.
