Located northwest of Junction City west of K-77 on K-57 below the Milford Reservoir dam. Open Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (year round except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years) and weekends 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (April - Sept). Closed weekends October – March. Free admission
The Milford Nature Center helps visitors understand the natural communities of Kansas. See and touch native animal furs, print your own animal tracks, and use your sense of touch to identify natural mystery items. Dioramas line the halls, and live animal exhibits feature snakes, amphibians, turtles, lizards, prairie dogs, and many more. A large bird of prey exhibit features many native raptors including a bald eagle and a golden eagle. The Butterfly House Exhibit is open from late May through early October (weather and butterflies permitting).
The Nature Playground is a favorite among youthful visitors. Slide through the belly of a snake or jump on the back of a spider. A picnic shelter next to the playground area is available on a first come, first served basis. Naturalist programs are available for youth groups, school groups, 4-H, Scouts and other interested parties.
Next door to the nature center is the state-of-the-art Milford Fish Hatchery, one of only a few warm water, "intensive-culture" fish hatcheries in the country. Visitors are welcome to walk around the outside raceways, and Nature Center staff offers hatchery tours on weekends at 1:00pm or by appointment.
