Open all year. The Liberty Garden was designed as a place of remembrance and solitude. A project of Keep America Beautiful and Dodge City CREW program. This garden is meant to honor those people who were touched by the attacks on America.
The tragedies of September 11, 2001, will live in the memories of Americans for generations. Located in historic Wright Park. Dodge City is honored to be the first community in Kansas to receive a portion of the World Trade Center. The 4 foot section of steel is placed under the U.S. Flag and between two 110 inch replicas of the twin towers. The 1,200 lb. piece of steel was recoved from Ground Zero in New York City. The Memorial includes pieces from The World Trade Center, as well as limestone from the Pentagon and sandstone from the hemlock grove near the site of the Flight 93 crash in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
