HorseThief Reservoir is located in Hodgeman County; 9 miles west of Jetmore, Kansas. Our office hours are Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (after Labor until Memorial Day weekend); Tuesday-Saturday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. (Memorial weekend - Labor Day weekend) We do take utility camping reservations over the phone. We have stand-up paddleboard, kayak, and canoe rentals as well! We are a full recreational park that has many different events held throughout the year; such as Zombie Paintball (held every Friday & Saturday through the month of October), The Great Pumpkin Patch, Pack the Park-Independence Day Celebration, Plow days, Shopping Markets and much more! HTR offers swimming, boating, fishing, hunting, jet skiing, and picnicking. We are open for camping 365 days a year and keep one bathroom open year-round as well. The Reservoir has lodging units that can be rented out throughout the year. We now have five ts and a cabin; three of the yurts are for primitive campers which have no bathroom or shower, but are within close walking distance to our bathroom and shower houses. The other two yurts and cabin do include both a bathroom and shower. ALL have heat/AC; microwaves and small refrigerators. You may call the office to make reservations or to get current rental fees. (We do ask for a deposit at the time reservation.) HTR has a community center that holds various activities throughout the year. It is available for rent. We have had family reunions, business meetings, weddings, markets, and receptions held there. The Lodge is also the perfect location to hold classes and meetings of any type. Did you know HTR is known as the Sunset Capital of Kansas? We have NUMEROUS places for you to view the most beautiful sunrises and SUNSETS in Kansas. Lake goers can also come out and gaze at the stars in our wide-open spaces. Wildlife is all around the area. During our hunting season; we have hunters utilize our cabins/camping sites and hunt our WIHA areas or they hunt in and around Hodgeman County. Kids love our beach area and playgrounds. Park-goers can also enjoy a beautiful 18 hole disc golf course. The Ron Allen Memorial Disc Golf course is the newest in Kansas and was developed by Eric McCabe, an American pro disc golf player. Thank you to the Ron Allen family for bringing this sport into HTR! There are mud volleyball pits, a basketball area, and horseshoe pits. We do have regular kid events; NWTF Children's Day Camp, fishing day and more. HorseThief is also home of HorseThief-The Festival which is on the calendar every second weekend in June. It is known statewide and has become one of the most popular red dirt festivals to date! We celebrate our Country's Independence every July and have a dance, firework display over the water, campsite decorating contest, and a BBQ cookout with Friends of HorseThief. We have a website that our fans can keep up to date on all of our events, the park weather and the latest HTR news. You may find us at www.horsethiefreservoir.com, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and Snapchat. NEW in 2021 is the permanent concert stage area! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Heather at 620-253-8464 during regular office hours. Come see us, relax the day away and then enjoy our amazing sunsets!
