The Haun Museum was founded in 1965. The entrance is located in the first stone house built in Jetmore in the l800s and is on the National Historic Register. The historical complex is part of block of buildings constructed of native limestone. Additonal buildings have been acquired or built expanding the museum to the present size. Visitors are given a glimpse of daily life of the early day settlers as they visit homes, schools, businesses, and professional offices setup for display.
The Haun Museum also has exhibits representing life into the l920s and 1930s. The museum is ever changing and growing with new displays being created to represent various time periods. A genealogy library is on the site. NEW to the Museum is the collection called, "Treasures of HorseThief", artifacts unearthed prior to the construction of HorseThief Reservoir. Some unique items dating back to 1100 AD!
