Great Bend Summer Street Stroll Farmers Market is a downtown open-air evening market in Jack Kilby Square around the Barton County Courthouse on Thursdays May 11th through September 14th, from 4:00-7:00 PM. A special Summer Street Stroll Farmers Market in conjunction with June Jaunt will be held on Friday, June 2nd 4:00-8:00 PM. Special events such as the City Band Concerts and Movies in the Park are held at the historic band shell along with the market on Thursday evenings during the summer and downtown stores have later hours to accommodate area shoppers visiting the market and events.
Fresh Fruits and Vegetables, honey, art and handmade crafts are the focus of the Summer Street Stroll Farmers Market and local vendors are encouraged to participate for the entire summer. This market also serves as the designated market for the Kansas Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program for Barton County where seniors may redeem checks for locally grown fresh vegetables, fruit, herbs, and honey. There are no vendor fees for this market. This market is a partnership with the City of Great Bend and Barton County Health Department to establish a regulated farmers' market to increase access to healthy foods.
