Built in 1920 as a lasting monument to soldiers in WWI as a gift from citizens of the city. Exhibited items are donated by the people of Brown County to depict the history of Brown County, which was settled in 1854. There are military items from the Spanish-American War to the present along with many displayed items from the 1850s to the 1900s.


The auditorium offers a stage area and seating capacity of 1200. It is a historic, architectural treasure. Contact 785-742-7136 about upcoming performances of the Hiawatha Area Arts and Theatre Society which performs there.
