Colby is located in Northwest Kansas on I-70, 45 miles from the Colorado border. We are 100 miles west of the Hays airport and 3.5 hours from Denver International Airport. Colby has 600 motel rooms and our largest meeting venue; the new Colby Event Center is 65,000 square feet. It can accommodate Athletic events, trade shows, as well as meetings. Also available is the Convention Center That is attached to a newly remodeled hotel.
Colby is a progressive Agricultural community filled with helpful friendly people. One of our many treasures in Colby is our Visitor Center, also known as “the Grain Bin”. We have a wonderful staff to help with any questions you might have. Geocachers love our town we have many caches, you might even find one at the Visitor Center. After traveling to Colby be sure to stretch your legs and experience our beautiful Walking Trails.
When you have a break, we have many things to see and do. The Prairie Museum of Art and History is home to Kansas’ largest Barn, the Kuska collection, a Sod House, and much more. If you visit us in the summer the Colby Aquatic Park is a fun relaxing way to spend some time. Our newly updated Villa High Park is wonderful. It has a small lake stocked with several varieties of fish, just bring your pole. It is surrounded by our beautiful Walking Trails, and plenty of tables and grills to picnic. If history interests you be sure and see our Historic Thomas County Courthouse that is on the national register.
