From the kitchen of The Alma Bakery & Sweet Shoppe featured in the fall 2012 issue of KANSAS!

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1/4 cup white syrup

  • 2 eggs

  • 3 cups flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/4 tablespoon baking powder

  • 3 tablespoons cinnamon

Directions

1. Mix 3 tablespoons of sugar and 3 tablespoons of cinnamon to roll cookies in.

2. Beat shortening, sugar, vanilla, white syrup and eggs until fluffy. Add flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder. Blend well. Roll balls into cinnamon and sugar mixture and bake at 350 degrees until cookie lifts on pan, about 10 mins.

3. Let cool and serve.
