Cinnamon Twists

Dissolve 1 cake yeast in 1/4 c. lukewarm water and a sprinkle of sugar
1/2 c. milk
1 egg, well beaten
4 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 t. salt
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. flour (maybe 2 more Tbsp.)

 

Cut shortening into dry ingredients. Then beat egg and add milk and yeast to this then mix into other mixture and beat well with spoon. Let rise until double in bulk, about 2 hours. Mix 2/3 c. sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon and roll the twists in this to form into a ring. For each roll use about 1 tsp. dough. Let rise for 1/2 hour and bake at 350. (Original recipe does not give baking time.)
