Welcome to Hays

Hays

In August of 1867 the Union Pacific Railway Eastern Division worked its way west and passed by Fort Hays. This would lead to the settlement of Hays City, later renamed Hays. Since then, Hays has grown into a thriving community full of activities to keep you busy. From perusing artifacts at The Ellis County Historical Society to seeing a life-size T-Rex at the Sternberg Museum of Natural History, there is something for everyone.

How about challenging your imagination and creating a beautiful work of art? Or get outdoors and stretch while you enjoy one of our historic walking tours or a scenic fitness trail?

Not sure where to start? Check out our sample itinerary!

Some of our most popular tours include:

  • Art Galleries
  • The Bricks in Downtown Hays
  • Sternberg Museum of Natural History
  • Fort Hays State Historic Site
  • Historic Churches of Ellis County
  • Ellis County Historical Society Museum
