Harvey County East Park presents entertaining outdoor options for the whole family, just a few miles east of the heart of Newton.

The sprawling 1,300-acre park is home to miles of trails, fishing, boating and camping.

Campgrounds surround the 314-acre lake, with close proximity to playgrounds, boat ramps, volleyball courts and a swim beach. A seasonal bait shop provides convenience for patrons with fishing and camping supplies beginning each spring and throughout the summer. The park has three restrooms, two of which are bathhouses.

East Park's network of trails are perfect for walking, running and horseback riding. The park includes the Osage Nature Trail, which encompasses the Indigent Persons Memorial. The trails at East Park are mapped at getoutdoorskansas.org

Volunteer Hall at East Park is a rental facility with heating and air conditioning that can seat about 100 people. The building includes a stove, refrigerator, sink and restrooms. There are also open shelters available throughout the park.
More information on hosting events at our parks can be found here.

In 2023, East Park introduced a dedicated Pet Swim Park. The swim park provides a fenced-in beach play area for pets with direct access to the water. Pets do not need to be restrained while inside the swim park, but are required to be leashed in all other areas of the park. Please help keep the Pet Swim Park clean for other visitors by cleaning up all trash and pet waste. A complete list of Pet Swim Park rules can be found here.

Seasonally, limited hunting is available by reservation in specified sections of East Park. During this time, portions of the trail routes that overlap with the hunting grounds are closed. Horse trail parking is temporarily relocated off of Northeast 24th Street during hunting season.

For model aircraft and vehicle enthusiasts, East Park is also the site of the Harvey County Radio Control Park

Boating, camping and horseback riding are subject to fees. Fishing requires a state-issued fishing license.

East Park is located at 314 N. East Lake Rd. in Newton.
