Princeton lies just 8 miles south of Ottawa on U.S. 59 highway and has 277 residents. The town was established in 1869 by the building of the railroad through that territory. The town was named after the city of Princeton, IL. The business district which includes a great steak restaurant, a bank and convenience store/gas station runs along the highway. The old railroad is now a part of the Prairie Spirit Trail with a trailhead located at Princeton where you can rest before continuing onto Ottawa or Iola.
