The Gallery at Pioneer Bluffs is located in the main house of the former Rogler Ranch, now designated a National Register Historic District, just north of Matfield Green in the Flint Hills of Kansas. The gallery represents national and international contemporary artists; each year, six or seven solo exhibitions are organized as well as a series of art workshops and “EARTH experiments”; foreign artists are invited to participate in the artist in residence program. The gallery was founded in 2010 by Ton Haak and Antonia "Ans" Zoutenbier. In The Gallery at Pioneer Bluffs we show art with a clear connection to the earth—not traditional landscapes, but more abstract approaches either on canvas or paper or in sculpture, or in the form of conceptual art. With our “EARTH experiments” we try to stimulate the creation of land art in the Flint Hills. We also present selected work of a few outstanding area photographers.
