Sisters of St. Joseph Nazareth Convent
13th & Washington St., Concordia, KS 66901
In 1884 the Sisters of St. Joseph arrived from France to minister in Concordia. Since that time the Sisters have continued to minister to the community for over 126 years. Construction on this five story red brick building began in 1902. The "Motherhouse" was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. Breathtaking stained glass windows, beautiful woodwork, and priceless works of art are just some of the treasures to see at the convent. It has served as a school, finishing school, hospital, convent and "home". Private and group tours can be arranged Monday-Friday from 2-4 pm for a donation. A small gift shop is open afternoons showcasing the art and handiwork of the Sisters.
