Pleasant Point School is one of the last remaining one-room schools in Rush County. Originally located 6½ miles south of Nekoma in rural Rush County, School District 24 constructed the building in 1907. After the school closed in 1959, the family upon whose land the school sat, maintained the building that many of their family members had once attended. In 2014, to ensure the school's future preservation, the owner donated the building to the Historical Society and in February 2015, the Historical Society moved the building to Grass Park in La Crosse. The school contains most of its original furnishings and has been restored to preserve its original character. In addition to telling the story of a time when over 80 one-room schools dotted the landscape of Rush County, it houses objects from innovative pioneer educator Howard Barnard, founder of Entre Nous College near McCracken.
