Over nearly four decades, artist Maleta Forsberg has earned a reputation for watercolors, oils and acrylics of rural landscapes, animals and architecture in the Midwest. Her studio is located southeast of Lindsborg on Olive Springs Farm.

Olive Springs School Dist. #2, was built in 1885 and is now the oldest country schoolhouse on its original location in McPherson County. The building was last used as a school in 1946. It was then used as a building to house cattle, hay and machinery until being restored in 1977. It is now an art gallery displaying the paintings of artist Maleta Forsberg. Exhibited also are memorabilia of the country school era. The school and farm around it were named for natural springs located on the hillside.

Forsberg’s work has been selected for and honored in juried regional and national competitions, including Watercolor USA and the National Wildlife Exhibitions, and in invitational, group and solo shows across the Plains. She also was honored in 1997 by a retrospective show of her work at the Sandzen Memorial Gallery in Lindsborg.

Located on the Prairie Trail Scenic Byway. Visitors welcome by appointment.
