This agricultural research center comprises several thousand acres of crop and range land, a greenhouse, modern feed mill, headquarters buildings, and a cattle feedlot with 900 head capacity. In addition to its main campus in Manhattan, the University owns or leases more than 12,000 acres for agricultural and land research throughout the state. Visitors are welcome to drive through the scenic tree lined roads or walk around the grounds to enjoy the beautiful landscaping, pine trees, shrubs and flower beds. A variety of test plots are located throughout the center to provide research information on crops, soils, weeds and flowers.
The center also features a garden plot area where research is conducted on flowers, shrubs and various garden plants to determine their hardiness in western Kansas growing conditions.
