Standing guard over fallen warriors of old is a Civil War Soldier cast in a unique zinc, located on the west edge of the community in the Old Iola Cemetery. The old cemetery tells the history of days gone by for Iola. The city's name sake, Iola Colborn, is buried there in the peaceful and shady cemetery overlooking the Neosho River.
