#KSBucketList Experience #30 - Fort Riley
Home of the "Big Red One" 1st Infantry Division, this active military base was established in 1853 to protect settlers. Notable attractions are the U.S. Cavalry Museum, Regimental Museum and Custer House (early-day officers' quarters). The "Old Trooper" life-sized horse and rider monument was inspired by a Frederick Remington drawing and is the gravesite of Chief, the last Army Cavalry horse.
Visit any of the 70 locations, take a photo at the site and post it to Instagram or Twitter or on the Kansas Tourism Facebook page and use the hashtag #KSBucketList (one entry per person per location) for a chance to win. One winner will be drawn at random each month and awarded a prize, and a grand prize winner will be announced at the end of 2016. Contest begins January 1, 2016.
