VAAM Gallery Artists of McPherson Arts Alliance will be returning for their 16th Annual residency at the Red Barn Studio Museum from Sunday, July 22nd through Saturday, July 28th. VAAM Gallery artists will work simultaneously in a variety of mediums to create an interesting and engaging environment for guests who visit the Red Barn Studio. Each artist in attendance will bring their unique perspective and talents to the group, creating a rich, creative atmosphere. The group members who plan to participate are: Meredith Redke-Gannon (painter, Wichita), Elizabeth (painter, Mcpherson), and Betty Jo Howchen (clay artist, Mcpherson) and more will be joining in! Also in attendance will be Jill Brax, who is a mixed media artist, and continues to explore various artistic methods and subject matter. She likes working with vibrant color, layering techniques, and exploring texture. Jill likes to make her own “enhanced” papers which are later cut up or torn and used in collages. She plays with color, texture, and composition, always changing, rearranging, and enjoying the results of her new discoveries in color combinations, color layering, and changing shapes and textures. “The VAAM group looks forward to their yearly residency for camaraderie and sharing ideas and good food.” The Red Barn Studio is open Tuesday through Friday 10AM to 5PM, Saturday and Sunday 1PM to 5PM and by appt.
