In Pleasanton, Kansas, Mine Creek Battlefield will host a Park Day event beginning at 9 am. Needs include clearing and maintaining walking trails, and a local historian will also be available to describe the park’s significance. For more information about Park Day at Mine Creek Battlefield, please contact Tami Neal by phone at 816-809-7767 or by e-mail at KSHS.MineCreek@ks.gov. We are asking Volunteers to bring Pruning shears, loppers, chain saws, shovels, rakes. We could also use a Mule or Gator to help get down to the trails. On Saturday, April 7, 2018, history buffs, community leaders, and preservationists will aid in the maintenance and restoration of numerous sites as part of Park Day, the Civil War Trust’s annual hands-on preservation event. Thousands of volunteers across the country will participate as Park Day celebrates its largest year ever with over 155 historic sites in 32 states. We hope you join us for this fun opportunity to help us maintain this important historic site!
