New exhibitions, opening January 19, 2020, at the Birger Sandzén Memorial Gallery in Lindsborg include the Kansas Scenic Byway Invitational ; Pulse of the Prairie , mixed media pieces by Hoisington artist Christina Lamoureaux; Asian art from the Lundblad Collection of Lindsborg; and works by Smoky Valley High School art students. The opening reception will be Sunday, January 19, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with exhibition talks beginning at 2:30 PM. The exhibits will continue through March 15, 2020. Featuring works inspired by Kansas scenic byways, 38 artists are participating in this invitational exhibit. A catalog is planned to coincide with the exhibition and has been partially underwritten with a grant from the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism. Cristina Lamoureax is an artist from Hoisington, Kansas, who received her M.F.A. from Fort Hays State University in 2014. She is also an educator, teaching high school art in Hoisington, Kansas. Her research and studies through Fort Hays, combined with the support of the Hoisington School District, has allowed her to offer a rich platform of artistic achievement that showcases her vision of the environment and its lessons. Selections from the Nancy Lundblad collection showcase Asian works acquired while the family lived in Japan and elsewhere. It will be a show that includes a wide variety of objects with great historical significance. Gretchen Elliott's art classes at Smoky Valley High School in Lindsborg will also have a variety of works on display. The Sandzén Gallery is located at 401 North First Street in Lindsborg. Gallery hours are 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday. The Gallery is closed on Mondays. Admission is free, with donations appreciated.
