Civil War Camp Dance sponsored by the Friends of Fort Scott National Historic Site on Saturday April 18th!! Civil War Living History Weekend will be held April 18-19, 2020, at Fort Scott National Historic in Fort Scott, Kansas. For more information and a schedule of events at Fort Scott NHS go to www.nps.gov/fosc. Dancing was enjoyed by almost everyone in America during the Civil War – North and South, young and old, rich and poor, urban and rural, black and white, and in the camps, the soldiers danced with each other and no one thought it was strange. In all times of adversity, you have to take a step back from your troubles. During the 1860s, dancing was one way to forget, at least for an evening, the "fiery trial" of the Civil War. Join us Saturday evening, April 18, for a camp dance at Memorial Hall from 7-10 pm. Come dressed in 1860s Civil War/western/pioneer attire. Light refreshments will be served. $5 per person. Everyone welcome. All proceeds go to the Friends of Fort Scott NHS. For more information contact Dee at waynedeeyoung@hughes.net.
