Things to do in Cimarron, Kansas

Cimarron, located on Highway 50 between Garden City and Dodge City, has always been on the commerce highway for travelers and trade goods. Cimarron is located on the Santa Fe Trail and was the starting point where the trail branched into two routes. The Cimarron crossing was the most dangerous route but also the shortest so it was used the most. The distinctive ruts are still visible today. Once you check out the ruts on the Santa Fe Trail, you can visit our historic Main Street. Main Street in Cimarron is home to the Cimarron Hotel built in 1886, Clark Pharmacy and their old-fashioned soda fountain established in 1939, the old Gray County Courthouse, home of the famous County Seat War back in 1889, and the Gray County Veteran’s Memorial, located at the current Gray County Courthouse. Cimarron also has a large City Swimming Pool, City Park, Golf Course, great shopping, and restaurants. Come experience the true definition of small-town charm.
