Frontier Military Scenic Byway
The 168-mile Frontier Military Scenic Byway follows the state's eastern border between Leavenworth and Oklahoma. The route approximates the old military trail used by the Army to transport troops and supplies between Fort Leavenworth and Fort Scott. Battlefields and storied notable sites of the Civil War dot the route.
