Lb Brewing Company & Gella’s Diner
Regionally inspired comfort food and handcrafted beer in restored architecture building.
Regional cuisine, the art of brewing beer, design and architecture, history and people… these are the passions behind Lb. Brewing Co. and Gella’s Diner. Fourteen award-winning beers brewed on-site, dishes made from scratch, everything is fresh from the farm to your table. The beef is never frozen, steaks hand-cut and the hamburger and sausages ground on-premise daily. Live music is a weekly event at the brewery and diner. Menus, beers and band schedules are online www.lbbrewing.com.
The microbrewery and restaurant’s unique atmosphere is due to its innovative architecture spanning four renovated turn of the twentieth century brick structures. Designed in collaboration with the nationally recognized designer Chuck Comeau, the buildings were restored to their earthy surfaces of classic handmade brick and limestone subtly redefined with the addition of steel girder supports in glossy black, framing generous doors and windows crowned with dramatic glass awnings. The effect is one of industrial chic mixed with a wholesome Midwest aesthetic. The open stainless steel kitchen buzzes with culinary activity, savory aromas and fiery spectacle.
Private banquet facilities just off the bar entertain up to 40 guests, fully equipped to host a variety of functions. Centrally located downtown, the city’s cultural centers, recreation parks, galleries, specialty shops and more are all within walking distance.
Date Opened/History: Lb. Brewing Co. and Gella’s Diner opened July 2005. It is owned by a group of 56 investors from the Midwest who decided to invest in a venue that would improve the quality of life in their hometown. The buildings housing the brewery and diner officially began the downtown revitalization project known today as the Chestnut Street District. And within four months of its opening, Lb. Brewing Co.’s brew master took silver at the Great American Beer Festival.
Awards/Selling Points:
Lb. Brewing Co. serves the #2 British Stout in the nation with its Oatmeal Stout which took silver at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. This is the same competition where Sam Adams first won acclaim. Gella’s Diner also features an expert Chef who is classically trained and backed with over 15 years experience in the Midwest.
