KANSAS! Magazine Asks Readers to Pick
their Favorite Small Towns in Kansas

Topeka, KS – KANSAS! magazine, the state’s premier travel magazine, invites readers to nominate their favorite small towns in Kansas for the magazine’s second annual readers’ choice issue. Only communities with a population of 5,000 or less will be considered. Nominations open Friday, January 29.

Last year KANSAS! celebrated its 70th anniversary. To usher in the milestone the Kansas Tourism division, publisher of the iconic publication, asked the magazine’s readers and other Kansas enthusiasts to submit their must-see and do experiences for the Kansas Bucket List. After submissions poured in, an editorial board pared the list down to the 70 finalists. The complete Kansas Bucket List was unveiled in the anniversary issue of KANSAS! last November, available on newsstands and by subscription.

“With the success of the Kansas Bucket List, we heard our readers loud and clear. They enjoy readers’ choice issues. Planning our editorial calendar for 2016 ‘Small Towns’ is a natural fit,” explained Andrea Etzel, editor of KANSAS! magazine. “Readers’ choice issues are a wonderful way to engage and connect not only with our readers but communities throughout Kansas and who knows better than fellow Kansans.”

Nominations will be collected from January 29 through March 14.  Submissions can be entered at www.kansasmag.com. Submissions may also be mailed to 1020 S Kansas Ave Ste 200, Topeka, KS 66612-1389, or by email at ksmagazine@sunflowerpub.com. Social media users can participate through Instagram and Twitter using #BestSmallTownKS in their post. From March 15 through May 31, readers will have a final opportunity to vote from a list of communities with the highest nominations. The winners will be announced in November.
