Farm Apple Pie

5 pounds tart apples, sliced
4 teaspoons lemon juice
¾ cup sugar
¾ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon nutmeg
Favorite basic pie pastry recipe
Icing
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk

Place half the apples in a 9x13-inch pan. Combine lemon juice, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg. Sprinkle half the mixture over the apples; repeat. Top with pie pastry. Bake at 400 degrees for 50 minutes. Mix powdered sugar and milk for icing.
When pie is cool, dribble icing on top. Serves 8-12.
