Milford Nature Center/Fish Hatchery
While visiting the Nature Center, you will have the opportunity to see live animal exhibits featuring native animals like snakes, frogs, prairie dogs, bobcats and birds. Spectacular views featuring the prairies, marshes, woodlands and lakes of Kansas will help you experience our great diversity. You will also have the opportunity to see and touch many native animal furs, print your own animal tracks and discover mystery items hidden in our drawers. Outside exhibits include our backyard habitat demonstration area, the birds of prey, and our seasonal (June-Oct.) butterfly house and garden. Several nature trails may be hiked and you may also visit a state-of-the-art facility and one of the few warm water, "intensive-culture" fish hatcheries in the country. Its objective is the rearing of sport fish for more than 300,000 Kansas anglers. The Nature Center provides guided tours of the fish hatchery on weekends throughout the summer and other times by appointment. Naturalist programs are available for youth groups, school groups, 4-H, Scouts and other interested parties. Call for more information or to schedule a naturalist program.
