Visit Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm, a certified site on the National Santa Fe Trail by the National Park Service. Enter the site through the Heritage Center at Mahaffie. Experience exhibits about the Mahaffie family, Olathe in the late 1800s and exhibits featured by the Olathe Historical Society. Relive the adventures of early stagecoach passengers traveling the Santa Fe Trail on the Barlow and Sanderson Stagecoach Line. The stone farmhouse built by J.B. and Lucinda Mahaffie in 1865 was one of the first stops for westbound travelers using the Westport Route of the Santa Fe, California and Oregon Trails. Experience living history when you visit the Mahaffie home, which features a full basement that served as the stagecoach dining hall and kitchen. See the original Mahaffie timber-frame barn and a unique, two-story stone ice house. Enjoy the working blacksmith shop, special programs and gift shop. Ride on a real stagecoach Wednesdays-Sundays Memorial Day through Labor Day, during special events and living history activities offered spring, summer and fall.
