Historic Union Pacific Depot and Lawrence Visitor Information Center
Active Union Pacific freight line with up to 100 trains each day. A 30 minute film about Lawrence's turbulent beginnings and Quantrill's Raid is shown on request. History display and railroad memorabilia. Beautiful gardens with several scupltures by local artists. The Lawrence Visitor Information Center is housed in this restored 1889 Union Pacific Depot. Friendly volunteers assist you in discovering all Lawrence has to offer. Center offers information on Lawrence history, arts, self-guided tours, lodging and dining information, outdoor recreation, The University of Kansas, Haskell Indian Nations University, and events in Lawrence and surrounding areas.
