The Hays Aquatic Park is located on approximately 3.5 acres of land and is located at 4th & Main. There are four bodies of water (lazy river, slides, leisure pool, multi-purpose pool) which hold about 2 acre feet of water. All of the water in the complex is heated. The Aquatic Park can handle as many as 3,000 people, but the practical summer operations are around 1,000 to 1,800 guests. Renovations to the 1940 WPA bathhouse are highlighted by a beautiful tile fountain under a sunroof. Showers, restrooms and changing rooms are located on the south side of the building with two family changing rooms between the food preparation area and counter. The diving well features one 1-meter and one 3-meter board and the well is 13 feet deep. The Lazy River is 582 feet long and about 7 feet wide. The depth ranges from 2.5 to 3.5 feet. The Lazy River with the Lagoon holds 104,000 gallons of water, with 5,663 surface square feet of water. Three water falls, a mister and a fogger keep riders wet as they float. Landscaped rock cliffs provide a visual as well as water experience. Jets along the side propel riders at speeds of up to 3 mph. It takes about 3 minutes to travel the length of the lazy river. The width of the leisure pool is 150 feet; the semicircle at the north end is 50 feet across. The deepest area is 3.5 feet tapering to 0. This pool holds 113,500 gallons of water and has 8,900 surface square feet of water. In the semicircle area there are underwater seats. There are handrailings on the east and west ends leading into the pool. The leisure pool is home to a giant frog slide, floating toy alligator and floating toy snake. A geyser, 12 pop jets and starburst play feature also allow guests to interact with the water. The multipurpose pool is a 50-meter 8-lane pool and has 11,208 surface square feet of water and holds 437,000 gallons of water. Water depth runs from 3.5 to 6 feet. The pool features a wheelchair lift, handicapped access ramp, stainless steel gutter and flush mounted ladders. Starting blocks for each lane are available at both ends of the pool for competitive purposes. The multi-purpose pool is designed to accommodate a fully automatic touch pad and timing system. An outdoor shower is available to wash off prior to entering the pool. Standing at the top of the spiral water slide, guests will find themselves at the highest point in the park. It is 142 feet long and 2.5 stories tall. The river slide is 34 feet long, 8 feet wide and 1.5 stories high. Up to four riders can descend at the same time. The splash pool at the bottom of the slides is 3.5 feet deep.
