Step inside this wonderful stone building where proslavery forces tried to guide the fate of Kansas Territory when the first Territorial legislature convened in July 1855. Contemplate the territorial and national conflict over slavery and see how people lived on the Kansas frontier. In 1928, the building was rebuilt from its ruins by the Union Pacific railroad. Take a walk on the Kaw River Nature Trail, where a magnificent view of the Kansas River awaits. The Capitol is located north of the Fort Riley military reservation.
