El Dorado Lake is located just north and east of the City of El Dorado at the edge of the scenic Flint Hills. There are approximately 6,000 acres of land available for public hunting and recreation areas. A variety of campsites, facilities, utility hookups, and several shower houses are located throughout the park. All total, nearly 1,100 campsites offer visitors the perfect outdoor experience. Other facilities include two swimming beaches, the Shady Creek Marina, a large amphitheater with indoor and outdoor stages, ten boat ramps and a designated campground where horses are permitted. A variety of trails are available in the State Park - hiking trails, biking trails and horse trails. Hitching posts are located along the shoreline. Public hunting and fishing opportunities abound. The Lake provides a variety of fish and many acres of hunting grounds for those outdoor sporting enthusiasts. The park offers 10 cabins for rental, including 5 deluxe cabins which feature a furnished kitchen, a full bathroom with a shower, a separate bedroom, and a sleeping loft. The deluxe cabins sleep from six to ten persons.
