Cedar Bluff Reservoir, State Park, and Wildlife Area
The over 14,000 acres of water and wildlife area make the Cedar Bluff State Park an excellent base camp for hunters, anglers and year-round explorers. The 150-foot tall, cedar covered limestone bluffs provide a stunning, rustic setting for park visitors. For a stunning view of the area, take a drive to the top of the limestone bluffs.
Fishermen are drawn to Cedar Bluff's excellent angling opportunities, especially wipers, white bass, and catfish. In the stilling basin just below the dam, anglers may fish for the rainbow trout stocked in the spring and fall. Besides fishing, boating and skiing are popular as well as a variety of other outdoor sports.
With 121 utility sites and a group campground consisting of 12 utility sites, and large areas set aside for non-designated primitive camping, the park comes built to suit nearly any taste. The Bluffton Area, located on the lake's north shore, is the most developed and receives extensive use. The Page Creek Area, on the south shore, offers beautiful primitive camping as well as a generous helping of utility sites.
If you're tired of setting up the tent or leveling the RV, check out the primitive and modern cabins for rent. Five rental cabins are available in a variety of styles and amenities.
The area around the park offers excellent wildlife viewing and hunting opportunities, especially whitetail deer, pheasant, turkey, dove, Canada geese and duck as well as eagles in the winter.
One of the best-kept secrets in the state lies near the park. Threshing Machine Canyon, the site of an 1850s Native American attack on a wagon train bearing a threshing machine, is located in the wildlife area. In the historic canyon, you will find carvings dating back to the mid-1800s.
The Smoky Valley Scenic Byway also travels by Cedar Bluff.
