Paul became more involved in his community's preservation and promotion initiatives as it is the country's last known POW campsite with standing structures. His occupational affinity for musical performances led to additional representation for the Brown Grand Theatre. He is involved in many other activities that help promote his community.
One of Paul's nominations read:
"Paul is president of the WWII POW Camp Concordia Preservation Society and serves on the Board of the Brown Grand Theatre. Paul also volunteers at Cloud County Tourism on a regular basis. Paul has owned and operated Tom's Music House for over 40 years. He has a special display in his business for the POW Camp Concordia which often attracts tourists from all over the world. Just yesterday a couple was visiting Concordia and Paul mentioned they should visit the Brown Grand and POW Camp Concordia and offered to give them a private tour of both places."
