Public Relations

Public Relations is an extremely important element of the entire marketing program of the Kansas Tourism Division. The ability to encourage journalists to convey the positive messages and interesting news and stories of Kansas tourism has long proven effective. The power of such editorial overage is most significant in influencing consumer travel decisions. Some of the key objectives of the Division's PR program include:

  • Identify and maintain relationships with key travel writers who demonstrate potential for influencing the national and international traveler to choose Kansas as a travel destination through print and broadcast publications.
  • Showcase the State of Kansas and the Division's tourism promotional efforts through public and media relations efforts.
  • Provide the Division with the most current public and media relations service, based on industry standards and protocol, updating service as trends and market standards change.
  • Establish the Division as a spokesperson/source for journalists seeking travel industry and trend stories.
