Public Relations is an extremely important element of the entire marketing program of the Kansas Tourism Division. The ability to encourage journalists to convey the positive messages and interesting news and stories of Kansas tourism has long proven effective. The power of such editorial overage is most significant in influencing consumer travel decisions. Some of the key objectives of the Division's PR program include:
- Identify and maintain relationships with key travel writers who demonstrate potential for influencing the national and international traveler to choose Kansas as a travel destination through print and broadcast publications.
- Showcase the State of Kansas and the Division's tourism promotional efforts through public and media relations efforts.
- Provide the Division with the most current public and media relations service, based on industry standards and protocol, updating service as trends and market standards change.
- Establish the Division as a spokesperson/source for journalists seeking travel industry and trend stories.

Media Event - In Spring 2013, Kansas Tourism will host an intimate media event in Chicago with the intent of promoting regional travel to Kansas. Event information coming soon.
Kansas Journals - Contribute your PR story for possible inclusion in the monthly distribution of Kansas Journals (story tips for journalists) to national media.
Photo Library Option - Send us fresh and current images of your community attractions. Photos should be photorapher-rights released so that journalists are free to use them in stories. A photo credit line can often be included.
Host journalists in your community as opportunities arise with media press trips throughout the year. As story destinations are identified for carefully vetted journalists, preferably on assignments, you will be contacted for hosting opportunities.
