Plan now to celebrate the holidays with simple pleasures at the Old Mill Museum's annual "Old-Fashioned Christmas" event, Saturdays, December 7 and 14, in Lindsborg. From 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on December 7, and 5:00 to 8:30 pm on December 14 the museum will be filled with the sights and sounds of an old-fashioned prairie Christmas.
The laughter of children and the sound of Santa’s bells ring out across the grounds. Concerts of beautiful seasonal music will be heard both weeks. The music schedule is filled with selections sure to bring out the holiday spirit in us all. Performers include Thad Beach & The Hieberts–Dulicimers Etc. on December 7; Smoky Valley Madrigals, Silver Tones Flute Choir, McPherson’s Men in Harmony, Smoky Valley Men’s Choir, and Mennonite Chorus on December 14.
Families are invited to enjoy the music and other activities sure to bring back the flavor of Christmas past. Children can enjoy old-fashioned crafts and make ornaments to take home. Santa strolls the grounds, listening to wishes and handing out treats for kids of all ages. Take a photo with Santa on December 7 courtesy of Walgreens. A shepherd, in traditional dress, tells the age-old Christmas story both weeks. The popular Smoky Valley Drama Team performs the drama Christmas on the Prairie on December 14.
Tour guides will be on hand for guided tours in the flour mill. Between activities, everyone can enjoy delicious refreshments and shop for those special gifts at the museum's gift shop.
Return to the rich traditions of the past and enjoy a time of family fun December 7 and 14. Please note that December 7 hours are 1 pm to 5 pm, while on December 14 the event will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Admission to this event is just the small regular museum admission of $2 for adults, $1 for children ages 6-12, and children under 6 free. The museum is located at 120 Mill Street. Questions?
